Monthly Program
POPCORN AND PEARLS
This month we have something a little different. Popcorn and a movie. A while back, Nova put out a wonderful video, “The Perfect Pearl”. The story of Pearls and how they came to be cultured along with pearl history.
The club is renting a popcorn machine and we will have butter and caramel to drizzle. Someone suggested chopsticks to eat your popcorn with. Bring your own if you want, but there will also be wet wipes.
Show and Tell will be to bring any pearly thing you want to talk about. Do you have a special pearl, conch pearl, melo pearl, or any other kind. For extra fun, wear your pearls.
I hope you will attend this fun meeting, not much business so plan to watch this wonderful video and mingle over the popcorn machine.
See you on July 8. Emma Lou Olsson Recreation Center, 1801 NE 6th Street, Pompano, Florida. 6:30 P.M.

SHELL OF THE MONTH JULY 2026

July SHELL OF THE MONTH – A giant size Heart Shell, Corculum cardissa Linn, 1758. This specimen measures 67 x 59mm,, wow! A freak of nature, the Heart Shell spends its life on it side, opening left and tight rather than top and bottom which is the rule in bivalves. These shells come in a variety of pastels, this one is a white albino. Taken in tangle nets at 50 meters off Bohol, Philippines.
