The Broward Shell Club, a nonprofit organization, hosted the 47th annual Broward Shell Show at the Emma Lou Olson Civic Center in Pompano Beach, FL. Our shell show is the only event of its kind in South Florida.Thousands of beautiful and unusual shells from Florida, the Caribbean and around the world were on display or for sale. Weekend Attractions included: Competitive displays by dozens of collectors; Shell Craftspeople showcasing their works; International Shell Market featuring shells, shell craft, jewelry, educational shell books and more; Shell ID Clinic; Art demonstrations and Shell Programs; Raffle fund raiser; Door prizes.2012 Broward Show Judges: Scientific Division: Kevan Sunderland, a nationally recognized authority of Western Atlantic mollusks with an extensive knowledge of worldwide mollusks, and Richard Goldberg, a shell dealer, author and lecturer from the Washington, D.C. area has been actively involved in the hobby and science of conchology. Congratulations to the award winners from this year’s Broward Shell Show. The 2012 Broward Shell Show was the Broward Shell Club’s best ever… a record breaking show! Our membership increased by 31 members and attendance was up again this year with regulars and South Florida residents alike, and many newcomers who discovered the wonder of shells for the first time!
